Air brokers see growth in demand for private charters

BUSINESStravellers are incr-easingly looking to private charters as the most cost-effective form of corporate travel.

The cost of flights, based on filling all seats on a small aircraft, can compete with most of the no-frills fares on offer, and clients can choose when and where they go, according to air brokers 1st Charter.

Managing director Jimmy Southern said business and high-street agents can earn good commission by referring clients to air brokers such as his company.

Southern, who is based in Maidenhead, said: “Private charters are more cost effective and always have been.

“Sometimes people can do what they need to in a day without staying over somewhere and paying out for hotels.”

Although some of the main London airports cannot offer flights slots, Southern argues there are many regional alternatives, often where passengers can park for free and step directly onto the aircraft.

“If agents come to us and give us the enquiry, we are quite happy to pay them commission.”
