BA’s new chiefmakes first team change
BRITISH Airways chief executive Rod Eddington has made the first changes to his management team since he took over from Bob Ayling in May.In a move which the airline claims will see a “flatter structure with a wider pool of people”, BA director of marketing Martin George will join the airline’s leadership team, reporting directly to Eddington. He previously reported to commercial director Carl Michel.
A spokeswoman for the airline said the move was a “tweaking of the structure of the team”.
“This is Eddington’s way of showing he wants to be personally involved with a wider aspect of the business,” she said.
“BA invested £600m on a comprehensive marketing strategy in January, which is now well on the way to being implemented.”
There are 12 people in BA’s leadership team including the airline’s sales director Dale Moss.
n The Guild of Business Travel Agents has said the next four weeks are critical in the trade’s preparations for BA’s new payment scheme.
A spokesman said some detailed decisions would have to be made by the end of next month to allow everyone time to adjust by the January 1 deadline.
