Founding member to leave TIPTO

ONE OF the founding members of the Truly Independent Professional Travel Organisation is to pull out of the group because he believes it is not cost-effective.

French Life Holidays, whose chief executive Warren Sandral was a founding chairman of TIPTO when it was set up last year, will not renew its membership in September.

The idea of the group was for independent operators to jointly promote their products to independent travel agents.

Each member gave £25,000 in the first year.

But French Life group business development manager David Stamp said: “When you invest money in something, you have to look at whether it’s the best way of doing it or whether you can get a better return. There is other activity we can do that we think will bring a better return for us.”

Travelscene sales director John Harding, who replaced Sandral as chairman of TIPTOin February, said French Life was the only member not to renew its membership for next year.
