Air Mauritius targets UK agents

AIR MAURITIUS will launch a nationwide roadshow in October to brief UK agents about its home country as a holiday destination.

The airline will invite its key agents and tour operators to attend half-day briefings.

The move comes as Air Mauritius unveils a 61% profits increase for the year ending March 31 2000. Group profits for 1999/2000 rose to £17m from £10m.

Growing interest in Mauritius, as well as the airline’s Transformation Programme launched two years ago, have been heralded as key factors in the airline’s growth.

Air Mauritius regional manager UK and Ireland Chris Gilbert said: “Mauritius is continuing to be a popular destination with holidaymakers and last year there was a 15% increase in the number of UKvisitors.”
