n Travelscene rates barcelona’s popularityBarcelona is the eighth most popular city-break destination in the world, according to Travelscene. The city is ranked number eight in the short-break specialist’s Cities League, after its 2000 sales so far rose by 3% on last year. The operator also reports that the Hotel Mercure Barcelona Rambla is the seventh most popular hotel in its Little Gem programme of character hotels worldwide.
n JMC contracts new aqua hotel for 2001
JMC has contracted the new four-star Aqua Hotel Ona Brava at Santa Susana, Costa Brava, for next summer. The350-room hotel, still under construction, will have indoor and outdoor pools, satellite television, a health and beauty suite, children’s clubs and a games room. Prices will lead in at £459 per person for 14 nights.
n airtours extends summer sun programme
Airtours has added the refurbished three-star Suncenter Costa Encantada at Fenals beach outside Lloret to its Summer Sun 2001 programme. The complex has 210 studios and apartments on five floors and offers half-board or self-catering options. Prices lead in at £419 per person for 14 nights.
n Eurosites promote port aventura option
EuroSites’ Catalonia programme offers two campsites within three miles of Universal Studios Port Aventura theme park. The operator also offers two days for the price of one at the theme park. Both Cambrills Park and the Sanguli campsite on the Costa Dorada offer family oriented features, including children’s entertainment and sports facilities. On the Costa Brava, the EuroSites clients staying at the El Delfin Verde campsite get 20% off green fees at the Empordà Golf Club.
n JMC expands select itinerary into catalonia
JMC has expanded its Select programme into Catalonia for next year, with two new hotels: the Hotel Termes Mont Brio in Cambrils on the Costa Dorada and the Hotel Gran Reymar in Tossa de Mar on the Costa Brava.
