Operator looks to increaseUKsales

NORWEGIAN Coastal Voyage hopes to increase its UK bookings by 30% to 6,000 a year by raising its profile among clients and travel agents.

The company is planning to run an advertising campaign, operate educationals and offer training for agents in an effort to boost sales of its cruises around the Norwegian fjords.

UK managing director Iain Cottam claimed his marketing budget was higher than in previous years but declined to say exactly how much the company was spending on the initiative. Norwegian Coastal Voyage has also announced plans to stop trading under the name of its UK subsidiary, Scandinavia Travel Service, and place its Air Travel Organiser’s Licence and International Air Transport Association licences and membership of ABTA and the Passenger Shipping Association under its own name instead. Specialist operator Scandinavian Travel Service will continue to operate its Scandinavian Collection programme.
