Bass revives Beirut’s luxury Phoenicia after £64m revamp

BASSHotels and Resorts has reopened the Phoenicia Inter-Continental in Beirut after 25 years.

The group has spent £64m restoring the luxury 462-room hotel, which was in the Lebanese war zone for years.

It has taken six years to complete the work to produce a blend of traditional Lebanese style with modern architecture.

Bass Hotels and Resorts president Middle East and Africa Raymond Khalife says he is confident the hotel’s revival will attract the interest of both the business and leisure traveller.

The hotel consists of two accommodation towers surrounded by a two-level conference and exhibition area. It also has a shopping arcade plus restaurants, bars, a pool and a health centre.
