Shanks applauds ruling
CLARIFYING ownership links will increase customer confidence and lead to multiples booking even more in-house products, First Choice has claimed.Managing director of UK distribution Peter Shanks said holidaymakers booking a First Choice product will receive a “seamless service”.
“They will realise all elements of the holiday are with the same group which will increase the confidence,” said Shanks.
“The ruling will also attract people looking for a First Choice product to book through one of our in-house retailers, just as Thomson customers will be more likely to book through Lunn Poly.”
He denied customers will be deterred from visiting a multiple if they believe there is limited choice.
“People either look to book with a certain operator or book late and are only interested in a good deal,” said Shanks.
The similarity of the Travel Choice and First Choice brands will make establishing the link easier than the other groups, he added.
