n concorde bookingsBritish Airways has confirmed that Goodwood Travel’s 15 Concorde charter flights for September and October will go ahead. Despite the Air France Concorde disaster last month, Goodwood Travel director Colin Mitchell said bookings for Concorde are currently up on last year’s figures. Meanwhile, latest reports from Travel Weekly’s sister paper New Scientist said 55 significant risks have been found in the design of Concorde engines.

Center Parcs is rumoured to have lined up two leading contenders to buy the company – French leisure group Pierre and Vacances and London and Regional Properties.
Bids are around the £700 million mark, although the company is valued at £820 million.
n dry dock concerns
Celebrity Cruises’ new ship Millennium may have to go into dry dock to fix recently detected vibration problems. Celebrity is working with French company Chantiers de l’Atlantique, which built the ship, to solve the difficulty. But it admitted the ship may need to be dry docked following its arrival in New York in mid-November. If any cruises have to be cancelled, passengers will receive compensation and travel agency commissions will be protected.

A forthcoming Web site dedicated to safari holidays will offer commission to agents who use it to make bookings. Safari.net, which is expected to launch at the end of the year, will initially offer a telephone ande-mail booking service but plans to introduce anon-line option later on.
