Five things to remember1. The On-line Travel Survey shows the enormous potential of e-travel. Consumers want to book travel on-line – and want to do it now.
2. The Internet should not be limited to flights. For example, 84% of respondents said they wish to book tailor-made holidays – the industry should capitalise on the demand that exists for all types of travel.
3. The Web is not perceived by consumers as a bargain basement. The survey showed thatrespondents wished to buy high and low-priced goods on-line.
4. Consumers believe that in five years’ time, the Web will be the key technology for booking travel. Travel providers must get their on-line strategies sorted out now if they are to figure in the e-travel revolution.
5. Consumers are more likely to book established travel brands than new dot coms. Travel providers should capitalise on this while it lasts and translate their off-line appeal into strong Web brands.
