Lufthansa cuts Munich fares as Go starts flights
LUFTHANSA has cut the price of Stansted to Munich flights just a week after low-cost rival Go resumed its year-round service to the German city. From September 1, Lufthansa will offer passengers a £39 return fare excluding tax, less than the current £55 charge for mid-week and £61 for weekend flights.
The total price of £63, compared to Go £68 fare, will be available until September 17 and applies to travel between October 3 and December 19. All inbound travel to Stansted must be completed by December 21.
Lufthansa leisure specialist sales manager UK and Ireland Liz Price denied the new fare was a tactical move againstGo, claiming it was to stimulate demand after the Oktoberfest.
Go resumes flights to Munich on September 14, after dropping them in March dueto what it claims were anti-competitive moves from Lufthansa.
