Operators demand year-round promotion
Operators are calling on the Cuban Tourist Office to concentrate on promoting the island in general, not just over the New Year period.Unijet general manager for the Caribbean and South America Brian Booker said: “I would like to see more promotion of Cuba because there is enormous potential there but I realise the tourist office has only a limited budget.”
The tourist office said it will launch a two-month autumn advertising campaign next month, when it will have adverts in national newspapers. This will be followed by a poster campaign at 37 London Underground stations during November and trade advertising and promotions during World Travel Market.
UK tourist office director Max D’Ou said he had applied to his head office for a bigger budget next year, much of which would be allocated to activities with the trade.
