Eastern Airways to add more flights

REGIONALcarrier Eastern Airways is increasing the frequency of flights to Manchester and Edinburgh after a rise in passenger numbers.

From next Monday, the Humberside-based airline will boost the daily Norwich-Manchester and Norwich-Edinburgh flights from a twice-daily to a thrice-daily service.

Capacity on these routes had reached 70% and customers were being turned away, according to the airline’s operations director Gary Lewis.

“We operate a four-times-a-day Norwich to Aberdeen service and the new thrice-daily services will appeal to a mix of business travellers and leisure passengers,” said Lewis.

Eastern Airways competes with regional airline Gill Airways and flies from Humberside, East Midlands and Norwich to Aberdeen, and from Norwich to Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Manchester.

The airline takes 50% of its bookings through travel agents, who are offered 5% commission, and 50% through direct sales.

A single flight from Norwich to Manchester costs £109 and a Norwich to Edinburgh single service costs £154. Both prices are exclusive of tax.

Passengers using the airline’s fully flexible S-class ticket will also have use of the executive lounge at Norwich International.
