Le Meridien to run Sunbird

FORTE’S upmarket hotel brand Le Meridien has taken over the management of the eight-strong Sunbird Hotels and Resorts in Malawi, Africa.

This spring, the 187-room hotel in capital city Lilongwe will be branded Le Meridien Capital and a 132-room hotel in the main commercial city, Blantyre, will be branded Le Meridien Mount Soche.

In 2001, Kuchawe Inn, a mountain resort in Zomba, the Livingstonia Beach Hotel on Lake Malawi and the Lilongwe Hotel will be rebranded.

The remaining three hotels, Mzuzu Hotel, Nkopola Lodge and Lingadzi Inn, will not be branded but will be directly managed by Le Meridien Mount Soche.

Two new hotels will be opening this spring and are included in the new Le Meridien 2000 directory, which is due out next month.
