Beachcomber expands with building of Mauritius resort
BEACHCOMBER, which pioneered tourism in Mauritius, is expanding its business interests on the island to cope with growing demand.
It has launched its Mauritius brochure for 2000/2001 which provides details of its latest resort – the 160 suite Dinarobin, which is under construction and will open next June.
The launch coincides with a competition for agents, offering the chance to win a week for two at the luxury Royal Palm including business-class flights with British Airways.
For every passenger booked by the end of December, their name goes into a prize draw scheduled for January 5.
Beachcomber Hotels, which has seven resorts on the island, established its first in 1952 and has recently completed the £13.5 million refurbishment of the Shandrani – its premier leisure resort for families.
Beachcomber Tours, set up by the Beachcomber Hotels, offers a range of upmarket holidays to a range of destinations. Prices for a five-night stay range from £967 to £2,224.
Meanwhile, the operator is building five resorts on neighbouring Seychelles, the first on the island of St. Anne’s.
Media relations officer Doreen Hargreaves said: “It’s growing as a destination. The great thing about the Seychelles is that its government does not allow charters. Therefore tourism is controlled and contained. This enables it to retain its beauty and individuality.”
