French cruiseline adds new regions for 2001
FRENCH cruiseline La Compagnie des Iles du Ponant has included Orinoco and Amazon river cruises in its new 2001 programme for Le Levant.
The 90-passenger vessel will carry out a 10-night flycruise from Guadeloupe to Cayenne down the Orinoco River.
Prices start at £2,825. The ship’s size has allowed it to schedule an Amazon cruise that goes beyond Manaus to Iquitos in Peru.
Meanwhile, the ship will carry out itineraries to some of the less visited Caribbean destinations, including the Virgin Islands, the Grenadines and the Venezuelan Islands.
Prices for a nine-night flycruise start at £2,595 per person, including an overnight stay before joining the ship.
La Compagnie’s UK general sales agent, The Cruise Portfolio, has included a brochure insert that lists prices in sterling.
Head of sales and marketing Joanne Phillips said since it started selling La Compagnie’s product in 1998, sales had been growing steadily.
“It’s a small ship so we don’t expect huge UK numbers. But we have established a following with special-interest groups, and among people who want to go to those Caribbean islands that other ships don’t visit.”
