Lufthansa in fares deal with train operator
LUFTHANSA passengers are being offered a discount of up to 30% on Stansted Express tickets.
Fares start at £9 single and £18 return between Liverpool Street in London and Stansted Airport. The deal applies to Lufthansa tickets bought through travel agents or direct from the carrier’s reservation centre. Agents will receive 7% commission on flight and rail tickets sold.
Business-class Stansted Express tickets will become available to Lufthansa passengers next month.
An airline spokesman said: “We have negotiated the lowest Stansted Express fares available for our passengers. This gives us a valuable competitive edge over other airlines at Stansted.”
Meanwhile, Lufthansa has just lifted its ban on the use of laptops with CD-ROM drives, CD players, mini-disc players, MP3 players, camcorders and gameboys on its flights. Customers will be able to use these devices at cruising altitude but not during take-off or landing.
Business and first-class seats on long-haul Boeing B747 and Airbus A340 have been fitted with US and European-standard electric sockets. Passengers are still banned from using mobile phones, radios and printers during flights.
