C&M Recruitment sets up travel training site

Students can learn at their own pace

C&M Recruitment has set up the first dedicated travel training site at www.train4travel.com.

Courses are run completely on-line from registration and payment, tutorials and exams.

Currently, courses cover global distribution systems, car hire and hotel reservations, while soft skill courses are planned.

Students are given a password and can log on when and where they like, returning to the section where they last finished. Courses are timed so that they can keep track of where they should be in the syllabus. They can also be tailor-made so that exercises are specific to the candidate’s particular sector of travel. Around £20,000 has been spent on developing the site following the success of the recruitment consultancy’s in-house training courses.

C&M director John Maloney said: “Training on-line gets rid of all of those barriers to learning. There are no personality issues and students can learn at their own pace where and when they want to. On-line training is also far more cost effective. The cost of Internet connection has plummeted in the last year.

“It also make sense time wise. Students don’t have to take time out of the office to train. They can study in their lunch time or evenings,” he added.

The service is backed up with support from C&M’s training house. Students can e-mail their queries to C&M and chat to a trainer on the telephone if necessary.

It is hoped that once the site has become fully established, virtual tutors and chat rooms will be introduced with presentations and question-and-answer sessions with key industry figures. In the long term Maloney also sees the site offering higher national diploma courses. Prospective students can log on to access descriptions of the courses, costs involved and preview tutorials.
