* club med deal
ClubMed and Havas Voyages have finalised a three-year distribution agreement which will cross-promote Club Med and Jet Tours Holidays in France. Club Med has also signed a similar deal in Germany with Dertour. The signing will give the operator access to 472 travel agencies owned by Dertour’s parent company The Rewe Group.
* ferry alliance
Brittany Ferries and Condor Ferries have announced an alliance in order to operate a new fast-ferry service between Poole and Cherbourg. The new service is expected to start next May. Brittany, which already runs two conventional ferries on the route, will use a Condor ship to offer the option of a faster service to its passengers. It has dubbed the deal a codeshare arrangement.
* cruise ship timeshare
A new timeshare company is selling partial ownership rights in a cruise ship, Romance II. Cruiseshares Europe, the regional arm of Bahamas-based company Cruiseshares Two, claims the deal will allow two people to take a week’s cruise annually for the next 20 years. Prices for the timeshare range from $7,500 to $21,000.
* luton revamp
Luton Airport has completed a £5 million refurbishment programme throughout its departure lounges and arrivals areas. A number of major high-street stores have now opened branches at the airport, including Boots, Accessorize, Ann Summers, Dixons and The Body Shop. Through the revamp, the departures area has increased by more than a third.
