Avro bolsters Tel Aviv flights for winter 2000
Thrice-weekly service to fly from Gatwick
SEAT-only specialist Avro will launch a thrice-weekly flight from Gatwick to Tel Aviv this winter due to growing demand from independent travellers and passengers wishing to visit friends and family.
From next month, Avro will operate flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays between November and February, with an additional Saturday departure during March 2001 to boost the service to four a week.
The seat-only specialist will also resume its service to Murcia in Spain next year in a bid to take on the booming area around Alicante.
Avro distribution director John Fitz-Gerald said: “Our winter programme to Tel Aviv offers the independent traveller much greater flexibility, giving alternative durations to the typical seven or 14 nights.
“This is perfect for the visiting friends and relatives market or those planning a short break to the city.”
Fitz-Gerald added that Murcia had been resumed due to the growing number of British holidaymakers flocking to the area every year.
“Alicante is booming,” he said. “This year, there have been about 20,000 British people who have bought holiday homes and apartments in the area alone,” he said.
Lead-in prices from Gatwick to Tel Aviv start at £189 per person for return flights on Monarch Airlines.
A return flight to Murcia from Gatwick including taxes starts from £145.
