Firms in talks over Japan joint venture
JAPAN Travel Bureau and Carlson Wagonlit Travel are in discussions about forming a joint travel and expense management venture for the Asia Pacific and Japanese market.
The combined resources and infrastructure of the new company would offer services, including on-line booking, in both markets. Another aim would be to provide one-stop services through the integration of Japan Travel’s information technology with those of Carlson Wagonlit. This would include global profile management, fare searches, hotel planning and reservations.
Carlson Wagonlit president and chief executive officer Jon Madonna said: “The thought of a joint venture with Japan Travel Bureau is strategically important and very exciting.”
The firms are seeking an agreement by the end of the year.
