Ryanair rail fare is better deal
In response to “Lufthansa in fares deal with train operator” (Travel Weekly 11 September), I don’t know who persuaded Lufthansa it got the lowest available fares on the Stansted Express but I have bad news for it. The carrier’s rail fares are more expensive than Ryanair’s. The Ryanair price for a return rail ticket on the Stansted Express is just £13, making the Lufthansa fare 35% more expensive.
Stansted Express tickets are available on all Ryanair flights into Stansted, as well as through Ryanair Direct and selected travel agents. Still, Lufthansa passengers can take comfort from the fact that they are only paying £5 more for their Stansted rail ticket than they would if they had flown with Ryanair.
