ABTA board gives go-ahead to fees leaflet
A LEAFLETexplaining service fees will be available from ABTA in the next few months after the idea was agreed by the board.
Details of when and why service fees may be charged will be outlined. It will also include information on low-cost transactions, services such as visa and passport processing and ticket delivery.
Meanwhile, board members also agreed that credit turnover exemption for agents should be increased from 50% to 75% and car-hire credit from 30% to 40%.
This means agents who get credit from tour operators only have to pay for bonding on 25% of the turnover.
The exemption is due to the fact that if an agent goes bust and has been given credit, it is the responsibility of the tour operator and ABTAwill not pay out. Therefore ABTA does not expect agents to be bonded for all their turnover.
