Garuda adds service from UK to Denpasar
STRONG sales have led Indonesia’s national carrier Garuda to introduce a thrice-weekly service between London Heathrow and Denpasar from April next year, using its B747/400 aircraft.
The airline currently operates a twice-weekly service between the UK and Denpasar.
According to Garuda UK sales manager Bruce Watson, flights for the remainder of this year and into early next year are almost full. The airline offers the only direct service from the UK, following a revamp during the economic crisis that saw the airline cut back on its routes and concentrate instead on core services.
Silverbird director Paul Graham said: “It used to be a milk-run service via Bangkok but now it just makes one stop – Garuda is a great product.”
Graham also extols the virtues of Garuda’s Premium Economy class, (see factfile right), which offers a business-class seat and said that upselling is popular with clients.
