Brochure addition
Amathus programme exploits
trend for Cyprus twin centres
Report by STEVEJONES
CYPRUS is becoming known for more than its beaches with increasing numbers of customers now taking two-centre holidays, according to Amathus Holidays.
To reflect the trend, the operator has added a section on hotels of character to its 2001 programme, along with a greater selection of villas.
Sales and marketing manager Alison Jago said a greater number of holidaymakers travelling to Cyprus are looking for an alternative to a beach-only excursion.
“Many clients now have a week by the sea and a week in rural Cyprus,” she said. “The Troodos mountains, for example, are a completely different holiday experience.
“While we continue to feature predominantly five-star properties, agrotourism and village houses are becoming increasingly popular.”
She said the increase in villas followed its introduction last year when demand outstripped supply.
Jago added: “Brochure space has precluded featuring them all but the reservations department can supply full details and costings.”
The operator has extended its colour-coded resorts and descriptions from its winter brochure in a bid to make the brochure more user friendly.
Jago claimed a huge majority of agents had backed the brochure’s revised look. Meanwhile capacity for next summer has been increased at key regional departure airports including East Midlands and Birmingham.
Jago said Manchester has been expanded by 50%, reflecting strong early sales from the North.
Prices lead in at £295 for seven nights’ self-catering in Grecoland Apartments, Ayia Napa.
Offers include up to £100 off a two-week holiday for two on bookings made before February 28.
