Industry must take responsibility

I write in response to the story aboutdocu-soaps promoting an increase in resort rage (Travel Weekly September 25).

It is not TV docu-soaps that encourage people to misbehave. It is quite simply people that are incapable of behaving properly.

There have been incidents where reps have encouraged their clients to become drunk and disorderly as part of the ever popular Ayia Napa pub crawl. This needs to be stopped.

I also do not agree with tour operators washing their hands of the problem by simply putting in a disclaimer in their booking forms.

I do believe tour operators need to make it very clear to their clients that bad behaviour will be dealt with and the local police will be involved where necessary.

In conclusion, by the sheer volume of people travelling, the increase in incidents where holidaymakers are out of order is bound to be on the increase.
