Continental to fly Stansted – New York

Report by John Lavabre

CONTINENTAL Airlines has today announced they are to begin a
scheduled service between London Stansted Airport and New York’s Newark
Airport.

The outward-bound flights will depart daily at 9.30 am and
arrive in New York at 12.30pm. Return flights will leave Newark at 7pm and
arrive at Stansted at 7.20am the next day.

The flights, which commence on May 2 2001, will be the first
scheduled long-haul flights to leave from Stansted. Continental will use 172
seat Boeing 757 aircraft.

The only long-haul flights from Stansted at the present time
are a small number of charter flights to Canada.
