n Gems of barbados expands portfolio
Gems of Barbados has added a fifth property to its portfolio, the 70-room all-inclusive Silver Rock hotel. A sixth, the750-room Eastry House is scheduled to open in 2002. The properites are owned by Barbados Hotels and Resorts which has renovated and rebranded them under the name Gems of Barbados, as well as appointing London-based ITG Sales and Marketing Services to promote the hotels to tour operators and the trade in the UK and Europe.
n JMCboosts tropical shores with two additions
JMC has added two self-catering properties in Barbados to the second edition of its 2000 Tropical Shores programme. The Sunswept on the island’s west coast and Asta Beach on the south coast are the only two non all-inclusive Barbados options in the operator’s brochure. Prices start at £549 for seven nights at the Asta Beach including flights.
n cresta worldwide targets five-star market
Cresta Worldwide has reduced the number of three-star properties it features in Barbados and increased capacity in the five-star market in response to demand. For 2000, new upmarket hotels include the five-star Glitter Bay and the Royal Pavilion.
n thomas cook holidays offers charter options
Thomas Cook Holidays is offering charter flight options to Barbados using sister company Caledonian Airways. Clients save around £200 compared to packages based on scheduled flights. Prices for seven nights at the Almond Beach Village start at £900 per person with Caledonian.
