Carlton Edinburgh gets facelift
PARAMOUNT four-star Carlton Hotel in Edinburgh is aiming to be one of the top three performing hotels in the city as work continues on a £7million refit.
Sales manager Lorna Macleod said the repositioning of the former Georgian department store to a four-star deluxe hotel will allow it to take on the Rocco Forte-owned Balmoral and Starwood Hotels and Resorts’ The Sherrington.
“It looked a bit tired when we bought it last October. Now we can look forward to meeting our rivals head on,” she said.
Once the work is completed next February, the hotel will boast 189 double rooms, a new reception area and four expanded conference suites.
Each room has cost £20,000 to refurbish with modem links, WAP phones and CD players installed as standard.
Next year the hotel plans to clean the outside of the building and introduce valet parking.
