AITO to reveal new brand name at conference in Mexico

THE ASSOCIATION of Independent Tour Operators will unveil a new customer brand name at its annual conference in Mexico next month.

Chairman Colin Trigger is spearheading a campaign to boost public awareness of the organisation.

The association wants to adopt a new name that will be instantly recognised (Travel Weekly July 10).

AITO is currently holding consumer focus groups to see if the public likes its choice. Aspokeswoman said: “The reaction we have seen so far has been very positive. We want AITO members to see it first at the conference, otherwise it would spoil the surprise.”

The consumer campaign will be launched in January, with AITO distributing millions of copies of its members’ directory through the national press. Its Web site will be relaunched to link up with Campaign for Real Travel Agents’ members, and in its third year a customer loyalty scheme will be set up.

The AITOconference takes place in Puebla on November 24 and 25.

The association will continue to use the AITO brand name when dealing with the trade.
