SUNVIL Holidays has increased its flight capacity by 15% to 18,000 passengers in anticipation of strong demand for Greece in 2000.
The operator has also added 40 properties to its portfolio and introduced a weekly direct flight from Gatwick to Volos in its new Sunvil Specialist Greece brochure.
Managing director Noel Josephides said he expected a shift in interest to Greece as Spain gradually becomes more expensive.
“People will be looking for competitive prices wherever they can find them. The weakness of the drachma makes Greece a lot more attractive to the UK market,” he said.
“A second reason is that there is now a far better range of quality accommodation in Greece.
“There really has been an enormous improvement in standards for holidaymakers generally. We are offering a great many properties with air conditioning and a swimming pool, for example, and accommodation furnishings have improved almost immeasurably.”
Sunvil’s prices have gone up by roughly 5% on average as a result of large rate increases on some of the most popular Greek islands, according to Josephides.
A one-week self-catering holiday in Greece now starts at £331 per person and a week in a hotel starts at £340.
