Qantas unaware passenger had died

Report by John Lavabre

AUSTRALIAN airline Qantas has said it was unaware one of its
passengers had died of a deep vein thrombosis following a long haul flight.

Media reports have named Emma Christofferson, 28, as the
passenger who died after a 20-hour flight from Australia.

A spokesman for the airline said:  “The airline had not received any notification from the family or
medical authorities. After learning of the incident from media reports today,
the airline is endeavouring to contact the family in Wales to express condolences
and seek further details about the case.”

The spokesman added the incident occurred on September 29.

A deep vein thrombosis is a blood clot that forms in a vein,
often the leg, and can make its way to the vital organs.
