Freestyle cruising aims to attract new market

NORWEGIAN Cruise Line

came up with the idea of Freestyle Cruising in a bid to attract customers who may be put off by the idea of a regimented holiday at sea.

Forget being told where to sit for your evening meal and at what time to be there, the Freestyle concept means NCLpassengers can enjoy 24-hour relaxed dining in any choice of restaurant.

Head of sales UK and continental Europe Nick Sharps said:”All our ships are being converted to accommodate Freestyle Cruising. “The first, Norwegian Sun, will be completed by next September and the first purpose-built ship, Superstar Leo, sets sail on its maiden voyage in November next year.”

NCLwill put 30 extra staff on its Freestyle ships to ensure the whole concept runs more smoothly.

Flightbookers agent Gail Freeman said: “You can see from the brochure that Freestyle is orientated towards younger people.

“It is a modern concept and will be easier to sell.”
