BA’s bad spell made clear for all to see
PERHAPS it’s the pressure of constant cost-cutting or the tragic crash and subsequent grounding of the Concorde fleet.
Whatever it is, standards at British Airways appear to be slipping.
Take the British Airways Tourism for Tomorrow Awards, held in London earlier this month.
To kick the evening off, giant screens behind BAchairman Lord Marshall and Wish You Were Here presenter Mary Nightingale showed some embarrassing misspellings: a two foot ‘accommodation’, spelt with one m, and ‘organisation’, spelt as origasation.
Winners and company names were totally mixed up and video footage was out of sync.
This was in addition to bouquets of flowers delivered haphazardly to bemused guests who were not sure whether to go on stage, stand or stay seated at their tables.
Incredibly, these were not the only mishaps to hit the beleaguered event. While waiting to reveal the overall winner despite the name prematurely appearing on the screen behind her, Nightingale seemed to be stalling.
“I was told to wait for a fanfare,” she confessed, at which point the fanfare was indeed blasted out, which then drowned out her congratulatory speech altogether.
Lot to learn: BA needs to go back to school
