* voyager seeks rise in internet business
Voyager is looking to develop its Internet business after becoming the insurance provider on Monarch Airlines’ Web site, which went live in August. People booking a flight with the airline can click a button and take out Voyager insurance, paying on-line by credit card. Director John Peters said the company put the Monarch site together and is now looking to expand the e-commerce side of its business. It also provides the insurance for dreamticket.com.
* select slashes 10% off winter sport rate
Select has cut 10% off its winter sports net rate, bringing the cost of 10 days in Europe down to £13.25 and 10 days’ worldwide cover to £28.24. Family cover, for two adults and up to five children under 19 years, costs £26.49 and £62.56 respectively.
* travel protection group gains custom
The Travel Protection Group has become a preferred travel insurance supplier to five of the ABTA regions following Scotland’s decision to follow the Greater London, Yorkshire and North Midlands, Midlands and Eastern regions. The company has also been appointed preferred travel insurance supplier to the Association of Independent Tour Operators.
* american express adds new facility
American Express is offering ‘Bump Insurance’ on a new Green Card charge account after an independent survey of 1,505 people showed that one in 10 had been bumped off flights in the past 12 months. Cardholders who are bumped will be able to charge up to £100 for meals to their card and after six hours can stay in a hotel costing up to £300.
