Holiday Autos replacedby Suncars
HOLIDAY Autos has been dumped as a preferred supplier by Holiday Hypermarkets after six years and replaced by the retailer’s in-house company, Suncars.
Holiday Hypermarkets has worked with Holiday Autos since the chain started and generates around £1.5 million of business for the car-rentalcompany.
But Holiday Hypermarkets managing director John Donnelly said he had a duty to sell in-house products after Suncars’ owner, First Choice, took full control of the retailer at the end of last year.
“We have enjoyed a very good relationship with Holiday Autos,” said Donnelly.
“But my job is to sell in-house companies, provided their product is as good as the ones we were offering.”
Holiday Autos chairman and chief executive Clive Jacobs was angry with the decision. “To say we are disappointed is an understatement,”he said. “We were mid-way through a four-year contract and were given just one month’s notice.
“When we signed the deal two years ago, First Choice already had a stake in the company. We’ve given everything to help Holiday Hypermarkets and to be treated in this way is insulting.”
