&#42 waggott heads up airtours uk finance

Airtours has promoted its charter and retail finance director Will Waggott to finance director for the entire UK Leisure Group. In a further change, Airtours Holidays director of overseas purchasing Amanda Wills and aviation director Bill McGrorty have also moved to group-wide roles.

&#42 internet site adds five late airline deals

LastMinuteTravel.com has added five new airlines to its late deals service. Austrian Airlines, AeroMexico, SwissAir and Sabena join over 600 brand-name airlines, hotels, tour operators, cruise-lines and car-rental services already selling ‘time-sensitive’ inventory through the site.

&#42 date confirmed for ITBberlin 2001 show

Next year’s ITB Berlin travel and tourism trade fair will take place between March 3 and March 7. Visitors will be able to attend a number of workshops, seminars and press conferences during the fair. It will be held at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds with March 5 and March 6 being reserved for trade visitors only.

&#42 tarr takes president position at CECTA

The Central European Countries Travel Association has appointed Hungarian National Tourist Office director Gabor Tarr as its new president. Tarr was one of CECTA’s founder members.

&#42 financial difficulty grounds air aruba

Air Aruba has ceased operations because of financial difficulties. The directors took the decision to stop services on October 23. The government of Aruba, which has a 30% stake in the airline, pledged to get all ticket holders home. A number of other airlines have stepped in to ensure there is no gap in service to the Caribbean island.
