Northern territory by Teresa Machan
New NTTC team to hike outback appeal
Commission boosts marketing team
THE Northern Territory Tourist Commission will be introducing its new sales and marketing team at World Travel Market.
Joining the team will be Cristina Suarez, sales and marketing manager UK and Ireland, and Rachel Edwards, sales and marketing executive UK and Ireland.
Suarez was previously with Qantas in Sydney as senior marketing executive, airport services, and Edwards moves from the NTTC in Darwin.
This year’s Northern Territory product focus will include the backpacker market, aboriginal tourism in the Arnhemland region and fishing in the Northern Territory – particularly in the relatively unknown coastal area of Cape Don.
A NTTC spokeswoman said: “The backpacker market was the original market, though our profile has changed as new product came on line. The infrastructure is developing but the backpacker market is still the Northern Territory’s bread and butter.”
An £18.5 million refurbishment programme will also be announced by the Voyages Group, formerly known as Ayers Rock Resort. This refurbishment will cover the groups Red Centre properties at Ayers Rock, Kings Canyon and Alice Springs.
