HKTA to show off new UK team at WTM

Whitehead keen to greet the industry

THE Hong Kong Tourist Authority will be presenting a new UK team to the trade at this year’s World Travel Market, to be led by new area director northern Europe and the Middle East, Sue Whitehead.

She will be joined by Liam Fitzpatrick, the newly appointed European communications manager who has moved to the UK from the HKTA’s Sydney office, and Jas Anand, the new manager, travel trade marketing, who previously worked for Bermuda Tourism.

Whitehead said:”We are very pleased to have the new UK team in place in time for WTM.”

Also on the Hong Kong stand, which will be part of the Together in Asia Pavilion, will be 21 exhibitors from Hong Kong.

The main theme of the HKTA’s stand will be its new City of Life campaign, which aims to promote Hong Kong as a destination that offers a mix of lifestyles and attractions.

Details of new tourist attractions to have opened in Hong Kong over the past year will also be available at WTM.

HKTA will be using the event to try to double the number of UK retailers participating in its new specialist agents’ scheme, which was launched in June.

&#42 Drinks reception: the Hong Kong Tourist Authority will beholding three drinks receptions. These events, by invitation only, take place on November 13 from4-6pm and November 14 from 12pm-2pm and from 4-6pm.

New attractions

Stanley: a revitalised seaside village.

Murray house: one of Hong Kong’s oldestcolonial buildings which has recently been reconstructed.

Oriental golf city: the world’s largest golf driving range – built on the disused runway of the former Kai Tak airport.

The Museum of Coastal Defence: opened in July and tells the 600-year history of Hong Kong’s strategic position as a coastal outpost.

&#42 The Chi Lin Nunnery and the Hong Kong Heritage Museum are also of interest.
