State makes family focus
TOP US golfing destination South Carolina aims to pursue a bigger share of the summer family market next year with more emphasis on the coastal playground resorts of Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head.
Director of tourism sales Beverly Shelley said: “We think this is the hook to get more UK tourists to consider our state.”
However, South Carolina Parks, Recreation and Tourism has seen its UK budget reduced by $41,000 to $330,000 for the year up to June 30 2001.
But Shelley said the department will continue with its successful Coastal South Carolina trade sales and education mission to the UK next year.
