Maybe Bath should rethink
IT IS disappointing to read that ABTApresident Stephen Bath said agents should refurbish their shops rather than spend out on a Web site.
It seems to be a reflection of his feelings that his £30,000 Web site advertising budget has gone down the drain. Has he considered that this disappointment is the result of his strategy?Look at his site, www.bathtravel.co.uk and you will see two things: the main thrust of the site is trips from Bournemouth Airport; and visitors to his site are encouraged to telephone.
First thought: if Bath Travel is targeting travellers out of Bournemouth, are these the kind of people who are likely to use the Web?
Second thought: I telephoned and enquired about the special offers. His staff member was helpful but she did not ask where I had seen the offer. Is he truly capturing all enquiries generated by his site?
