Thomas Cook cannot rule by aggressive bully-boy tactics

I WRITE following the recent letters regarding the aggressive bullying of Thomas Cook managers.

I left Thomas Cook five years ago due to these bully-boy tactics. I was once manager of the year, but the following year, because I had a new regional manager who adopted Hitler-like tactics I was an under-performer and was threatened with disciplinary action. I was also expected to ‘manage out’ staff who worked hard, earned a great deal of money for the company but whose faces did not fit.

I resigned and left the company with which I had worked 10 years. Staff are now frightened, hence the vast amount of staff vacancies available.

Having spoken to long-standing staff recently, it is obvious that Thomas Cook wants to rule staff with an iron rod. This is not the way forward. Your staff are your best asset, without them you won’t have a job.

John Adamson, former Thomas Cook manager, Harrogate, North Yorkshire
