Operator’s dictatorial style is repelling staff
WHEN is a merger not a merger? When Thomas Cook took over Carlson in April last year.
First came the inevitable branch closures, followed by a sweet pill for managers by way of a conference to South Africa. A small percentage of Carlson top management opted to work for Thomas Cook (or were given the opportunity). Since those heady days, numerous talented staff have seen that the grass is greener on the other side.
Manny has a so-called open door policy – more like a trap door. Complain at your peril. Thomas Cook senior management have installed a dictatorial regime where any minor transgression is rewarded with a verbal or written warning.
Little use in joining the union and wasting £8 per month because they are ill informed. It is time for Thomas Cook to wake up to the fact it needs to address the concerns of its main asset – its staff. Regional sales managers would benefit from a staff care course otherwise they will be running the branches themselves.
How can a so-calledblue-chip company treat its staff with such disdain and arrogance. Time will tell.
