Digital picture service from Pre-Emption
ON-LINE company Pre-Emption has launched an Internet-based digital picture library service aimed at touroperators and hotel chains.
Travel companies pay a £2,000 annual fee to put ten 50-megabyte photographic images onto the Pre-Emption Web site. The fee falls for lower resolution pictures.
Charges are then made every time a picture is downloaded by the end user, who is charged nothing to access the service.
Each download is logged in a management report by Pre-Emption, detailing which pictures are being used.
Creative director Gervase Webb claims the service will save the trade time and money when distributing images to brochure designers, public relations teams and the press.
“Tour operators often rely on couriers to deliver prints and graphics to their brochure design agencies,” said Webb. “Alternatively, they do battle with ISDNlines and e-mail to send electronic files, only to find that the image format is wrong and can’t be reproduced.
“Travel operators and hotel chains can now distribute their images more cost effectively and efficiently,” she said.
