ABTA bids to heal old rifts

ABTA is attempting to heal a long-standing rift with multiples by urging their staff to attend regional meetings.

Lunn Poly has already written to Newman Street backing the move and has pledged to encourage its workforce to get involved with the association.

ABTA’s council of regions vice-chairman Doug Wardle said staff from multiples have refused to attend meetings in recent years because of the treatment they previously received at the hands of independents.

“Multiple staff used to attend but were pilloried over issues such as discounting, even though they weren’t responsible for company policy,” he said.

“They consequently didn’t want to know. We want them back and I will make sure the criticisms do not happen again.

“Lunn Poly has written to me saying it will start encouraging staff to attend and I intend to take it up with the other multiples.”
