MIDCONSORT is to reduce the number of supplier partners it
works with to give its members a clearer focus when selling.
But the consortium, which prides itself on its independence,
said it would stop short of telling agents to directionally sell any companies.
Managing director Mike Gates said it had agreements with
around 300 companies and admitted it was not possible to satisfy all of them. “We
will cut down the number of partners we work with through head office,” said
Gates.
“There’s no set limit and it’s an on-going process. Our
members are running their businesses and can strike their own individual deals
and we will not be telling them who they can sell,” he added.
