GB AIRWAYS has been praised by consumer magazine Holiday
Which? for its punctuality during summer 2000.
In the magazine’s travel survey, which has been challenged
by the UK’s tour operators claiming it is unrepresentative of the UK public (Travel
Weekly Jan 15), average delay times and the worst and best airlines were
highlighted for each holiday destination.
GB Airways was praised for its performance, as was British
Airways and low cost airline Go.
For services to Faro, Alicante, Malaga and Palma, GB Airways
was consistently the best performer. It was the second-best performer to Malta,
beaten by Monarch Airlines, which had an average three minute delay.
Air 2000 was found to be the worst offender with a delay of
one hour and seven minutes.
BA was the most punctual airline on routes to Athens,
Naples, Venice and Orlando. BA’s low-cost airline Go was the most punctual for
its service to Ibizia, and was second most punctual on services to Palma,
Malaga and Naples. GB Airways head of customer services George Mitchell said: “Our
success has been based on setting ourselves realistic timetables. We don’t give
our passengers expectations we cannot keep.”
