AVRO founder Paul Dendle has returned to the seat-only market after a four-year absence with the launch of Internet-based choiceair.com.
Dendle, who left The Flight Company in March 1996, has teamed up with former Avro colleague Chris Papekyricou to form Axis Leisure, the holding company for choiceair.com.
Dendle said it would fill a niche in the market, initially offering seats on the Gatwick-Tenerife route on Spanish carriers Aer Leisure and Fitura.
Choiceair.com cost £50,000 to set up and is licensed to sell 3,000 seats, with a target to grow to 20,000 seats.
Bookings can only be made by agents, who will receive 10% commission.
