C&N Touristic to reveal plans for Thomas Cook

Report
by Steve Jones

German
operator C&N Touristic will reveal further details of its plans for Thomas
Cook next month after the European Commission approved the £550 million
takeover.

C&N
chief executive Stefan Pichler and Thomas Cook chief executive John Donaldson
will hold a joint briefing at the ITB travel exhibition in Berlin, at which Pichler
is expected to announce plans for the Europe-wide roll-out of Thomas Cook as a
premium brand.

However,
the integration process cannot begin until the EC gives approval to Thomas
Cook’s sell-off of its Global and Financial Services Division to Travelex. Approval
for this is expected within the next two weeks in time for the announcement in
Germany.
