Big Four give in to OFT demands

Report by Travel Weekly reporter

THE BIG Four tour operators have all bowed to pressure
from the Office of Fair Trading and supplied it with information on
cancellation charges.

The OFT gave companies two weeks to provide data or face
legal action. Despite doubts that they have a duty to comply, Thomson,
Airtours, First Choice and JMC have all reluctantly gathered information.

A Federation of Tour Operators spokesman said the tour
operator data would reinforce information it supplied showing cancellation
charges are fair and reasonable.
